SAMARITAN’S PURSE SHOE BOX MINISTRY
Since 1993, the Samaritan Purse Organization has sent over ninety million children’s shoe boxes around the world. At Black Creek Church, this ministry began through Mrs. Nellie Lawhon as she gathered children’s shoe boxes through her classroom as a local school teacher. Later in 2009, Mrs. Wanda McEntire helped Mrs. Lawhon extend the ministry through more awareness within the church. Today, Ms. Kathie Benton organizes this ministry throughout the year and plans our packing parties. This shoe box ministry has grown from a small number of boxes to over five hundred as the congregation shares the love of Jesus each year. There is a wonderful spirit when we assemble to pack these shoe boxes for the children. We are doing our small part to change the world one shoe box at a time. God has blessed this ministry tremendously and it also builds our fellowship as Christians in a world of chaos and confusion. To God be the glory for each child around the world. Here are some pictures of a few of the congregants as we pack these gifts of love in the shoe boxes.
